Senior military delegations from Western nations discussed “sensitive security topics” during recent meetings at their Lebanese embassies, according to a report released by one of the embassies.
The report stated that one of the topics under discussion was the situation in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh, outside the southern coastal city of Sidon. Further strife is expected in the area, in light of new information that extremist elements, led by Palestinian Hasan D., have infiltrated the camp.
This group is believed to be responsible for last week’s clashes between Fatah and the Al-Qaeda-linked Jund al-Sham group, which left two killed and 11 wounded.
Lebanese security services received information that a number of Nusra Front military commanders sneaked into Lebanon days ago, during fighting in Syria’s Qalamoun. Hezbollah and the Syrian army are in the midst of an offensive against ISIS and Nusra Front positions in the mountainous border region.
