The UK might reconsider its decision to leave the European Union following the poisoning of a Russian spy and his daughter, the President of the German Bundestag, Wolfgang Schäuble, has said.

The senior politician said in the wake of the Salisbury poisoning, and the unprecedented show of actual unity from the Brussels bloc, Brits saw “how good it is to not be alone in the world” and he hoped the country would now realize that “Europe works.”

He added: “I still have hope that the British stay in the EU.”
