Andrew McCabe, who was sworn in to replace former FBI Director James Comey as acting FBI Director, has ties to Hillary Clinton.

McCabe, who was sworn in Tuesday morning, first made headlines in 2015 when his wife, who was running for a Virginia State Senate seat, received nearly $500,000 in campaign donations from Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a known Clinton ally.

Incidentally McCabe headed the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails at the time, and was criticized for not recusing himself from the investigation following the revelations.

“We’ve never had a thing like this in the history of our country,” then-candidate Trump said at a rally.

The Virginia Democrat Party pushed back, saying that McAuliffe “supported Jill McCabe because he believed she would be a good senator. This is a customary practice of Virginia governors.”

“Any insinuation that his support was tied to anything other than his desire to elect candidates who would help pass his agenda is ridiculous.”

Last October, the FBI said that McCabe wanted “to prevent against any actual or potential conflict of interest,” and when his wife ran for the State Senate, “McCabe and his lawyers implemented a system of recusal from all FBI investigative matters involving Virginia politics, a process followed for the remainder of her campaign.”

“During the campaign, he played no role, attended no events, and did not participate in fundraising support of any kind.”

Because of his Clinton ties, it’s likely that his time FBI head will be short-lived, according to CBS.

Earlier this year, senior intelligence sources revealed that McCabe openly professed his disgust for President Trump at a staff meeting following Trump’s inauguration, saying to the conference, “I hate Trump,” and “F*ck Flynn, and we f*ck Trump,” reported True Pundit.

A retired FBI agent and friend of Comey said that the FBI doesn’t “have a strong number 2 guy in McCabe. Finding someone both sides will agree on as a replacement will be very tough.”
