A Republican elector who has been bombarded with irate letters, emails and phone calls from Hillary Clinton voters has slammed the left’s efforts at influencing electors as a “coup d’etat” attempt to “overturn a fair and legal election”.

Alan Braun, a Republican elector from Des Moines, Iowa, blasted the move as a partisan ploy and refused to be affected by it.

“What the Hamilton Electors are suggesting amounts to a coup d’etat to overturn a fair and legal election. I refuse to co-operate with them,” he tweeted.

Braun has been keeping track of the number of letters he has received from leftists as part of the organized campaign to convince, and in some cases intimidate, electors out of voting for Trump. Numerous others have complained about receiving death threats.

In one day, Braun recieved no less than 58 letters and a FedEx package. Yesterday, he received a staggering 96 letters.

Braun also complained about receiving a phone call from someone “who screamed about Russia for 5 min”.

The bombardment seems to have only succeeded in irriating Braun, not changing his mind.

“I’m an elector for Iowa. I don’t care what people in other states think, especially not people from California who are deluging me with mail,” he tweeted, adding, “Why do people in California and New York think a presidential elector in Iowa cares at all what they think? I represent Iowa, not them.”

Braun also dismantled the argument that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote and therefore should be president in a single tweet.

Despite the effort to sway electors being launched on a crescendo of sound and fury, the facts show that it will almost certainly signify nothing.

As we reported yesterday, the Associated Press directly contacted more than 330 Republican electors and found just one who said he wouldn’t cast his vote for Trump.

The RNC has also conducted its own investigation and found just a single elector who won’t vote for the president elect. In both cases, that individual is likely to be Christopher Suprun, who has already gone public with his decision.

Liberals hoped that by creating a lot of noise around the issue, they could influence other electors to follow in Suprun’s footsteps. It appears that they have only succeeded in annoying Republican electors and making them even more determined to vote for Trump.

A video featuring numerous mostly C-rate celebrities that encouraged electors to abandon Trump has also been received very badly, with over 24,000 people on YouTube thumbing down the video compared to less than 3,000 thumbs up.

Meanwhile, despite Hillary supporters being responsible for virtually all of the violent threats against electors, the leftist media is accusing Alex Jones of leading a vitriolic campaign against Nancy Pelosi’s daughter, a Democrat elector, with the Nation reporting that, “Jones fans are responding predictably with death threats and abuse to Pelosi and her family via social media, e-mails, and voicemails.”

It’s a serious charge, especially given that the Nation presents no evidence whatsoever to back it up.
