Islamic countries are big fans of all things rape.

Their bearded men-folk have a fetish for hijabs and struggle cuddles. When we’ve pointed such details out in the past, many a snot-gobbling leftist has rushed to scold us in Islam’s defense. Good news for those still on the fence about Islam and rape culture; you don’t have to take our word for it. Just listen to this traditional Egyptian explain it himself. On television.

An Egyptian lawyer has prompted outrage for saying harassing and raping girls who wear revealing clothing such as ripped jeans is a “national duty”.

Nabih al-Wahsh made the controversial statement during a TV panel show discussion debating a draft law on prostitution.

“Are you happy when you see a girl walking down the street with half of her behind showing?” the lawyer said on Al-Assema earlier this month.

He added: “I say that when a girl walks about like that, it is a patriotic duty to sexually harass her and a national duty to rape her.”

Rape culture. Straight up.

Egypt never disappoints when it comes to this sort of thing (see Egypt Proposes ‘Virginity Tests’ for Female College Students). To be fair, they’re trying to modernize themselves with “women’s panels” and whatnot. Clearly that isn’t working out too well for them.

But the worst part of all this? While feminists are busy quibbling about a non-existent rape culture in the west, there’s actual sexism going on in the Middle East. And it’s blowing up faster than you can say “Allahu Akbar.” Yet we see no feminist rallies decrying this problem, let alone demanding a solution to it.
