A new poll shows that Judge Roy Moore is still leading Democratic opponent Doug Jones by ten points despite the allegations against him published by the Washington Post last week.
The Emerson College poll, released last night and conducted after the revelations broke on Thursday, shows Moore leading Jones by a 55 percent-to-45 percent margin in the race for the Alabama Senate seat.
The lead has been cut from the 22 point advantage Moore enjoyed in September, but the poll found that only 28 per cent of respondents were impacted by the revelations reported by the Post.
“There is a partisan divide where it is really closer to about 20 percent of Moore voters are saying that this an issue for them,” said Emerson College professor Spencer Kimball. “And the question will be will those people not go out to vote? As comparatively the Jones voters, 40 percent, 45 percent say this isn’t going to fly with us. Does that mean that they increase their base turnout? Because remember this is a special election and turnout is everything in these contests.”
Moore announced during an event last night that he plans to sue the Washington Post for numerous hit pieces targeting his family, his foundation and his campaign, adding that the allegations against him were invented as part of a smear campaign to sink his political aspirations.
“There’s the Democratic Party, they don’t want to see me in the United States Senate. There’s the Republican establishment, which has spent over $30 million to keep me out of the United States Senate. You put them together, and they realize my opponent is 11 points behind. They’re desperate,” said Moore.
Leigh Corfman alleges that Moore initiated a sexual encounter with her in 1979 when she was 14 and he was 32. Moore denies the allegations, calling them “completely false”.
As we highlight in the video below, whether it emerges Moore was guilty of the allegations against him or not, the entire sex abuse scandal fallout is now being weaponized by feminists and the far left to realize their political agendas.
