A Bellevue policeman and his off-duty co-worker are being investigated after the on-duty officer failed to arrest his off-duty cohort during an apparent DUI stop.

According to the Bellevue Police Department, police officials forwarded the DUI case to the Issaquah Prosecutor’s Office for review, and are performing an internal investigation regarding the actions of the arresting officer.

The on-duty officer pulled over a vehicle on I-90 for investigation of a DUI on Nov. 20 near Issaquah. The on-duty officer said he immediately recognized the potential offender as a fellow policeman. No arrest was made, and the off-duty officer was transported home by a family member. It is unknown if the off-duty officer underwent any field sobriety tests.
