WASHINGTON – The Pentagon is proposing the sale to Australia of up to $1.5 billion in missiles, electronic warfare countermeasure equipment and other supplies to support that country’s F/A-18E/F fighter aircraft.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said in a notice to Congress posted on its website on Monday that the principal contractors would include units of Raytheon Co (RTN.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), ITT Corp (ITT.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) and Boeing Co (BA.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), manufacturer of the F/A-18.

The agency said Australia had requested up to 4 AIM-9X Sidewinder Captive Air Training Missiles, 10 AN/ALE-47 Electronic Warfare Countermeasure Systems, 8 AN/ALQ-214 Radio Frequency Countermeasure Systems, and 10 AN/ALR-67(V)3 Electronic Warfare Countermeasure Receiving Sets.
