Vice Chair’s statement represents the very danger that George Washington warned us about

The Vice Chairperson of the Democratic National Committee encouraged President Obama to “move forward” and practically act as a dictator today while Congress is in recess.
In her tweet this morning, Donna Brazile undoubtedly suggested that the president use his “pen and his phone” to sign executive orders which unconstitutionally bypass Congress.
.@BarackObama. Enjoy #PresidentsDay. With Congress on recess, this is action day! Let’s move America forward.

Americans responded to her statement with complete disgust.
“So President’s Day is when we all line up to make our annual oaths of loyalty to the president, right?” one user inquired.
“When did you cross that line where you felt it was acceptable to openly root for dictatorship?” another user asked.
Yet despite this backlash, only a few members of Congress in comparison have spoken out against the presidential power grab, such as Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tx) for example.
“The president’s taste for unilateral action to circumvent Congress should concern every citizen, regardless of party or ideology,” Cruz wrote last month. “The great 18th-century political philosopher Montesquieu observed: ‘There can be no liberty where the legislative and executive powers are united in the same person, or body of magistrates.'”
“America’s Founding Fathers took this warning to heart, and we should too.”
Cruz also added that the most dangerous aspect of Obama’s presidency was his persistent pattern to “enforce his own policies via executive fiat,” which is exactly what Brazile is encouraging Obama to do.
Unfortunately, when it comes to establishment politicians in both parties, they actually enjoy Obama usurping power from Congress because it sets a precedent for the president to write his own laws, which benefits them when their party controls the White House.
But to emphasize a point that Cruz made, this isn’t a partisan issue at all but rather a constitutional crisis which threatens the very foundation of our republic; the Constitution was specifically designed to prevent the concentration of power into one branch of government and its associated dangers.
Brazile’s comment is even more disturbing considering that she made it today on President’s Day, which was established in part to celebrate George Washington’s birthday, a man who voluntarily stepped down from power despite many Americans urging him not to.
In his 1796 Farewell Address, Washington warned Americans about how political factions can and will work against the Constitution in order to concentrate power into the hands of the few, which is exactly what’s happening now:
All obstructions to the execution of the laws, all combinations and associations, under whatever plausible character, with the real design to direct, control, counteract, or awe the regular deliberation and action of the constituted authorities, are destructive of this fundamental principle, and of fatal tendency.
They serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put, in the place of the delegated will of the nation the will of a party, often a small but artful and enterprising minority of the community; and, according to the alternate triumphs of different parties, to make the public administration the mirror of the ill-concerted and incongruous projects of faction, rather than the organ of consistent and wholesome plans digested by common counsels and modified by mutual interests.
However combinations or associations of the above description may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.
