Yesterday, an off-duty police officer, Arthur Roldan, was arrested for rape, menacing and assault for attacking a woman in a Staten Island parking lot. It’s believed he raped her at gunpoint. According to the Post’s sources, the victim was his girlfriend, while the Daily News reports that she was an ex-girlfriend.
Sources say that incident occurred at 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, at a lot on Father Capodanno Boulevard. The Post says, “It was not immediately clear how long the two have known each other or whether Roldan used his service weapon during the alleged sex assault. The woman reported the incident Tuesday evening, and Roldan, who has been on the force for six years, was taken into custody yesterday morning, the sources said.”
However, Roldan’s mother told the News, “My son is innocent,” and his aunt said, “This is not in his character, he is a police officer… He’s never been a problem, he’s never had a problem in his life.”
