Jury selection is scheduled to start Monday for the New York trial of Osama bin Laden’s son-in-law on charges he conspired to kill Americans as al-Qaida’s spokesman after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Sulaiman Abu Ghaith (SOO’-lay-mahn AH’-boo GAYTH) will be tried in a courthouse just blocks from where the attacks downed the World Trade Center in 2001. Security will be tight: spectators will be required to go through metal-detector machines.

Judge Lewis Kaplan refused on Friday to delay the trial amid claims by defense lawyers that their client has been mistaken for a Guantanamo Bay detainee in regards to some evidence.
