A South Carolina couple recently had a humiliating visit to their local hospital this week after admitting to their doctor that their child was not immunized.

The Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital says it prides itself on a “skilled team of pediatric professionals,” according to its website, but parents Trevor and Katie Smart say their visit was anything but professional.

“I did feel judged,” Katie said recalling her family’s experience.

The Smarts were delivering their 9-month-old son to the Palmetto Health emergency room Monday night after he sprained his ankle trying to walk. They also wanted to check up on a slight fever he had developed.

Trevor says after describing their son’s complications to the doctor, “The nurse came in and left this note on the table.”

The note read,

235
need to fx
fever
0 immunizations
Loser!

The Smarts were confused and understandably taken aback by the flippant nurse’s obvious insult.

“For her to say that, she doesn’t know why I choose not to vaccinate,” Katie argued.

After researching ingredients contained within vaccines, the Smarts say they opted out of vaccinating two of their three children.

The Smarts couldn’t determine whether the nurse purposely or accidentally left the note, but regardless proceeded to file a complaint with the hospital.

Palmetto Health spokespersons were extremely apologetic for their employee’s utter lack of professionalism.

“The behavior of our team member in this situation does not reflect Palmetto Health’s standards of behavior, and we sincerely apologize for what happened,” a spokesperson for the hospital reportedly told WISTV.

Palmetto Health moved to suspend the nurse, whose name is not mentioned in reports, but have not said whether further disciplinary action will be taken against her.

In the wider scope, the Smart’s case speaks to the ongoing demonization campaign aimed at informed parents who want nothing more than to give their children the opportunity to grow up and lead healthy lives.

The Smart’s nurse was apparently oblivious to the myriad of adverse reactions that sometimes accompany the chemical cocktails put out by the pharmaceutical industry, which often undergo minimal testing and “fast-track” approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and which are recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
