Christian and Muslim leaders have appealed for calm in central Nigeria’s Jos city after more than 40 people were reportedly killed in clashes on Thursday.
Jos’s Catholic Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama told the BBC the two groups should hold talks to end hostility.
Local Muslim leader Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir expressed a similar view.
Over the past two years, more than 1,000 Muslims and Christians have been killed in violence in and around Jos.
