The cover for Snoop Dogg’s new album shows an image of President Trump dead in a morgue with a tag around his toe, in what represents another desperate attempt by the ailing 46-year-old rapper to reclaim some form of relevancy.
The photo for the new record, Make America Crip Again, shows Snoop, “Sipping from a Crip-blue Solo cup glaring down at the corpse of the Donald.”
What would the reaction have been if a white country music artist had released an album cover showing them celebrating the dead body of Barack Obama? Nationwide condemnation. Yet the establishment media and the entertainment industry has normalized the idea that wishing for Trump’s assassination is some kind of trendy counter-cultural meme.
This is not the first time that Snoop Dogg – real name Calvin Broadus Jr. – has invoked his fetish of seeing Trump dead.
In his video for BADBADNOTGOOD, released back in March, Snoop theatrically shot a clown who looked exactly like Trump in the head, prompting Trump himself to respond with a tweet in which he asked, “Can you imagine what the outcry would be if @SnoopDogg, failing career and all, had aimed and fired the gun at President Obama? Jail time!”
The song also promoted violence against police officers, with Snoop encouraging his fans to “spray that shit” if involved in a confrontation with a cop.
Snoop Dogg’s desperate grab for attention is undoubtedly related to the widely held view that his days of being a relevant, talented entertainer are long gone. With numerous attempted reinventions of his image having failed, his previous album, Bush, failed to even break the top ten of the Billboard 200, peaking at number 14.
While Trump is bombarded with assassination threats on a daily basis on social media, entertainers like Snoop Dogg and Kathy Griffin, who infamously posed with Trump’s decapitated head, have been blamed for inciting lunatics to actually follow through on their promises.
As I document in the video below, it’s an amazing coincidence how rappers were so keen to give Trump positive shout outs in the lyrics of their songs before Trump ran as a Republican, at which point he suddenly became a racist to be despised and attacked.
