A black male opened fire on a police officer’s home in Indiana Tuesday just days after being released from prison.

According to reports, 27-year-old March Eugene Ratney began screaming profanities and firing on an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer’s home just after 2am.

The violent felon, who had recently been released after serving half of a 12-year sentence, was wearing a shirt with the words “Black Lives Matter” and “F*ck the police” during the incident.

Although Ratney fired 17 shots – hitting the officer’s home, patrol vehicle and fence – neither the officer or his family were harmed.

IMPD Chief Troy Riggs says the officer had just returned home from work when the shooting began.

“Think about this, this is your home,” Riggs said. “If there is one place in this world where you should always feel safe and your family should feel safe, it is in your home.”

“If we’re going to overcome issues in our community, whether perceived or actual, we’ve got to work together and we can’t tolerate this. This officer represents this city and our city was attacked and his family was attacked as a result.”

Ratney, who was captured by a surveillance camera fleeing the area, was arrested by police during a traffic stop less than an hour later.

While being questioned at police headquarters, Ratney, who denied involvement, allegedly became belligerent before urinating in the interview room.

Police say a search of the suspect’s residence uncovered two firearms. The man could now face charges related to a serious violent felon in possession of a firearm.

As reported by Fox59, local Black Lives Matter members were quick to disassociate themselves with the shooter.

“He is not a part of the movement and you can tell he’s not a part of the movement just in his approach to this whole issue,” said Muhammad Siddeeq of The Concerned Clergy. “That movement is a movement trying to do positive things and peacefully resolve issues.”

Although Black Lives Matter has attempted to portray itself as a non-violent group, such actions and rhetoric have continued since the shooting of 11 police officers in Dallas by a Black Lives Matter supporter.

This footage was captured only days after a police officer in Tennessee was shot by a black male who “was troubled by incidents involving black people and law enforcement officers.”

While the majority of those representing Black Lives Matter may be peaceful, a growing and significant segment continues to call for violence against law enforcement and white Americans in general.

A White House petition – which has reached the threshold to garner a response from the government – has even called for the group to be labeled as a terrorist organization.
