A new proposed federal gun policy, aimed at curbing violence along the Mexico border, has gun-rights activists claiming it puts unnecessary scrutiny on legitimate gun owners and sellers.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives wants to mandate sellers notify the bureau when one person buys two or more semi-automatic rifles within five days.

“I think it is not only outlandish, but over controlling,” said Chris Moseley of Texas Guns.
