John Prescott yesterday revealed he had doubts about intelligence “tittle tattle” on Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction before the war.

Lord Prescott, who was Deputy PM when the invasion was launched in 2003, said he had been “nervous” about government claims that Saddam Hussein could launch doomsday attacks in 45 minutes.

And the Labour peer told the Chilcot Inquiry into the war that he felt evidence on Saddam’s arsenal was “not very substantial”.

Plain-speaking Prezza also declared that Attorney General Lord Goldsmith was “not a happy bunny” as he wrestled with the question of whether the war was legal, before finally deciding it was.
