In light of the state’s new concealed carry law, related businesses in the area have thus far felt varied levels of change.

For Preston Johnson, owner of Galesburg Guns, Gear and Ammo at 739 Henderson St., sales have yet to show a noticeable spike.

The big boom, Johnson said, came after the Newtown, Conn., mass murder of 20 elementary school students and six faculty members in December 2012. While sales have since dropped back to a steady level, they’re still higher than this time last year.
