While protesters were demonstrating against police who killed Eric Garner, a cop in Arizona assaulted a teenager with asthma.

The incident was captured on video and uploaded to Facebook:

The teenage girl in the video was reportedly a runaway. Her mother appears and tells police she suffers from mental health issues and asthma.

Cops said they had acted correctly and could have shot the child dead if they decided to do so, according to a post on The Free Thought Project:

Luis Paul Santiago, the witness who filmed the violent encounter stated that police attempted to delete the video, and the second officer on the scene explained that the officer “behaved correctly” and stated that “if she needed to, she could have shot her dead.”
