A shipwreck believed to date back to the 18th century washed ashore on a Florida beach this week, according to a local report.
The 48-foot-long vessel turned up on Ponte Vedra Beach in St. Johns County around 8 a.m. Wednesday, Julie Turner — who made the discovery with her 8-year-old son — told Action News Jax.
At first, Turner thought she had found a piece of a pier or a fence, but then realized it was part of a very old ship, she told the station.
