Hillary Clinton’s home brew email server, which was used to send classified US government information may have led directly to the death of a scientist in Iran who was said to have provided the US with information on the Iranian government’s nuclear program.
Last week, Shahram Amiri, an Iranian scientist was executed in Iran, charged with treason for providing “vital information to the enemy,” the Iranian judiciary confirmed.
Amiri claimed that he had been kidnapped, taken to the US and held against his will by the CIA. He also claimed that he had been kept under ‘psychological pressure’ at an undisclosed location, in an effort to force him to reveal secrets.
Amiri denied ever having revealed anything to the CIA, yet officials at the State Department claimed he was in the US of his own will and had been paid $5 million for secrets. He eventually was able to flee back to Iran, but the information leaked out to the Iranian government, who clearly did not believe Amiri had stayed silent.
It seems that the source of the leaked information was Hillary’s server.
Amiri was discussed in Clinton’s emails from 2010, just over a week before he returned to Iran.
“We have a diplomatic, ‘psychological’ issue, not a legal one. Our friend has to be given a way out,” an email by Richard Morningstar, a former State Department special envoy for Eurasian energy, read, according to the Associated Press. “Our person won’t be able to do anything anyway. If he has to leave so be it.”
“‘We should recognize his concerns and frame it in terms of a misunderstanding with no malevolent intent and that we will make sure there is no recurrence.” Morningstar also wrote.
In another email, Senior adviser Jake Sullivan wrote about Amiri visiting the Iranian interests section of the Pakistani Embassy in Washington D.C., demanding he be allowed to return to Iran.
“The gentleman… has apparently gone to his country’s interests section because he is unhappy with how much time it has taken to facilitate his departure. This could lead to problematic news stories in the next 24 hours.” Sullivan noted.
In an appearance on CBS’ Face The Nation Sunday, Senator Tom Cotton explained how Hillary’s recklessness could have revealed sensitive information, and even caused the death of Amiri.
“I’m not going to comment on what he may or may not have done for the United States government, but in the emails that were on Hillary Clinton’s private server, there were conversations among her senior advisers about this gentleman,” Cotton said.
“That goes to show just how reckless and careless her decision was to put that kind of highly classified information on a private server and I think her judgment is not suited to keep this country safe.” the Senator added.
“I’m confident if the American people elect Donald Trump and they elect a Republican [Congress], that America will be safer and stronger in the world,” he said. “Our streets will be safer and our country will be more prosperous.”
Cotton also accused the Obama administration of “working like a gun cartel” by sending $400 million to Iran in wooden pallets on an unmarked cargo plane. The administration maintains that the payment relates to an arms deal from the late 1970’s, yet it happened at the same time as the release of four American hostages held by the Islamic Republic, meaning it is almost certainly a ransom payment.
Hillary Clinton repeatedly lied about sending classified information over her home email server, and continued to suggest she never did such a thing even after the FBI investigation concluded that she did indeed do this.
Only last week did Clinton acknowledge that she hadn’t been truthful about the emails, bizarrely saying that she “short-circuited”.
