Phoning in to her favorite news network CNN Monday, Hillary Clinton said that she didn’t publicize her health problems because she “didn’t think it was going to be that big a deal.”
“Obviously I was supposed to rest five days,” Clinton said. “That’s what they told me on Friday, and I didn’t follow that very wise advice.”
“I’m feeling so much better, and obviously, I should have gotten some rest sooner. I probably would have been better off if I pulled my schedule Friday, but like a lot of people, I thought I could keep going and power through it, and that didn’t go so well.” she added.
Clinton used the 9/11 memorial as an excuse to explain why she didn’t disclose her pneumonia diagnosis, saying that she was committed to being there, even though the ailment is highly contagious.
“I was just incredibly committed to being at the memorial as a senator on 9/11. It was incredibly personal to me, and I could feel how hot and humid it was. I felt overheated. I decided that I did need to leave. As soon as I got in the air conditioned van, I cooled off, I got some water, and very quickly I felt better,” she said.
“As soon as it became clear I couldn’t power through, we said what was going on,” she said. “If we weren’t fast enough [disclosing information] … I take responsibility for that.”
When Anderson Cooper pressed Hillary on whether this has happened before, she admitted that the fainting spells have ”occurred a few times over the course of my life.” When Cooper persisted, Hillary claimed that the spells happened ”really only twice that I can recall.”
Remarkably, Hillary claimed that she has “already met a high standard of transparency” on disclosing her health information, saying “I’ve already released information about my health in this campaign.” despite attempting to cover up her illness.
When Cooper asked if her handling of the situation confirms the suspicions of some voters that she is not transparent or trustworthy, Clinton snapped back at him
“Oh my goodness, Anderson, you know, compare everything you know about me with my opponent,” she said, before speculating about Trump’s own health status.
“I think it’s time he met the same level of disclosure I have for years,” Clinton said.
In response to Donald Trump’s declaration that he will release the results of his own recent medical examination, as well as a response to pressure from the media, opponents and supporters, Hillary also said she will release more information on her health in the coming days.
“We’re going to be releasing more information, and I think it’s fair to say we’ve already met the standard of disclosure of past presidential candidates like Mitt Romney and President Obama,” Clinton said.
Clinton’s spokesman Brian Fallon, appearing on MSNBC, also stated that the campaign knew about Hillary’s illness on Friday, and that more information on her health would be released, while Campaign manager Robby Mook dodged the same questions about the attempted cover up of Hillary’s sickness on the same network three hours later.
“She was telling everybody in earshot that she was perfectly fine,” Fallon said, referring to the medical episode on Sunday.
Fallon claimed that “there’s no other undisclosed condition; the pneumonia is the extent of it.”
After being asked five times about whether he knew of Clinton’s diagnosis, Mook stated “I’m not going to get into details about who knew her medical information… But she made a determination with her doctor that she’d power through this. She didn’t want it to affect anything and obviously this on Sunday, when she got overheated, it was clear she needed some downtime.”

“She did not lose consciousness, she stumbled getting into the van, from the van she was calling aides and we got her to a doctor as quickly as we could,” Mook claimed.
Instead of answering questions about Hillary, Mook whined about the media not prying into Donald Trump’s health, despite the fact that Trump saying he will release his medical report this week.
“If we’re going to talk about transparency and disclosure, Donald Trump has not released a single piece of information about his health,” Mook said, adding “I hope you drill into this with the same detail as you’re drilling in with ours.”
Hillary’s political opponents, and even her allies, criticized the secrecy over the health issues Monday.
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said it’s now “reasonable” to question everything the campaign claims about Hillary’s health.
“I don’t know what’s going on actually,” Priebus said, according to BuzzFeed. “I don’t know what to believe as far as what they’re saying is the problem, because they don’t tell the truth from the beginning and so it’s reasonable – it’s not mean, it’s not wrong that I’m saying this — it is reasonable for people to not accept what they say because they say things that are lies so often. We don’t know what is going on with Hillary Clinton.”
“Here we have them spinning, spinning, and spinning all day on Sunday and then suddenly they come back and say, ‘Oh well, she was diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday, and oh well, yeah,’” Priebus said. “Look, it’s the lies. We don’t want anyone to be ill, but what we do expect is that you’d at least be honest.”
David Axelrod, who served as a senior adviser to President Obama, slammed Clinton for withholding information and lying about her health.
“Antibiotics can take care of pneumonia,” Axelrod tweeted. “What’s the cure for an unhealthy penchant for privacy that repeatedly creates unnecessary problems?”
Clinton aide, Jennifer Palmieri, responded to Axelrod, admitting “We could have done better yesterday.”

Speaking anonymously to The Hill, another Clinton ally was dumbfounded over the situation, saying “Why couldn’t the campaign just have been aboveboard about this? She got sick. Tell people she’s sick and move on. I know they thought it would give the right-wingers something to pounce on, but who cares?”
Hillary said that she will likely return to the campaign trail “in the next couple of days.” Her husband Bill Clinton will fill in for her at a scheduled rally in Las Vegas on Wednesday, where he will discuss her economic plans, according to the campaign.
