Two-time failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton rejected Republicans’ calls for civility during a CNN interview, asserting that Democrats will only become civil if they win back Congress.
In an interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour on Monday, Clinton said that one cannot be civil with a political party that “wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about,” referring to the Republicans.
“That’s why I believe, if we are fortunate enough to win back the House and/or the Senate, that’s when civility can start again,” Clinton declared. “But until then, the only thing that the Republicans seem to recognize and respect is strength.”
Clinton is the latest Democrat to pile on the over-the-top rhetoric against Republicans following the confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, where leftists went all out aggressively harassing Republican politicians, disrupting the Senate chamber, and threatening violence against Kavanaugh supporters.
Earlier this summer, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) called on leftists to harass Trump officials and supporters in public places.
“And so, let’s stay the course. Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up and if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere,” she yelled to her leftist base.
Republicans have pushed back against the alarming level of harassment and intimidation waged by the left.
Sen. Steve Scalise (R-La.), who was shot and nearly killed by a rabid leftist last year, recently called for a return to civility, but was mocked for doing so by leftist media.
Additionally, Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-Ky.) wife Kelley recently revealed in a CNN op-ed that she sleeps with a loaded handgun under her pillow due to death threats and the violent attack on her husband by their crazed socialist neighbor.
“In the last 18 months, our family has experienced violence and threats of violence at a horrifying level,” she wrote Saturday. “I have never felt this way in my life.”
But according to Clinton, that’s exactly what Republicans deserve – unless they hand over power to the Democrats. Only then will Democrats become civil again.
Does anybody really believe that?
Rather than set an example of leadership and denounce violence and intimidation by their base, the Democrats are keen to hold civility and polite discourse hostage unless Republicans surrender power.
Until then, they’re content with accelerating cultural divisions in America to ignite a bloody civil war which they will blame on President Trump.
