China has supplanted or soon will supplant the U.S. as the world’s leading superpower. That’s the headline from a , which put this proposition to people around the world.
In 23 of the 39 countries surveyed, majorities or pluralities said China has overtaken or will overtake America.
In China, the verdict was clear: Two-thirds believe their country already has supplanted or eventually will supplant America.
In the U.S., about half the country believes America will continue to be a greater economic and political force than China. But the number is down from 54 percent in 2008 to 47 percent today, the survey found.
