The French government has launched a smartphone app to alert users about possible terror attacks ahead of the Euro 2016 football tournament.

The app will also offer information on how fans can stay safe.

The French Interior Ministry announced the app two days before the Euros kick off on Friday, when the hosts take on Romania at the Stade de France on the outskirts of Paris.

Officials in France and other countries have warned that the tournament may be a target for terrorist attacks.
