A Travis County Grand Jury indicted former APD Detective Charles Kleinert for shooting death of Larry Jackson Jr.
Kleinert walked into the Travis County Justice Complex late Monday afternoon with his attorney to turn himself in on the manslaughter charge. Kleinert was booked and posted a personal bond according to the jail.
Jackson was shot in the neck following an altercation with Kleinert in July of 2013 following a bank robbery in Central Austin. The indictment comes 10 months after the shooting. The grand jury started hearing evidence and testimony back in March.
