UPDATE: Names of the victims, which are being published online, have not matched up with those on the ISIS ‘kill list’ thus far. As Infowars’ stated at the time of publishing, no evidence linked the list, which contains numerous issues itself, with the shooter.

An ISIS kill list released online Monday includes 8 residents from Orlando, Florida – the site of Sunday morning’s horrific terror attack that took the lives of more than 50 people.

The list, obtained and analyzed by Infowars, mentions what appears to be the names, addresses and emails of 8 females from the Orlando area.

Whether any of the Orlando residents listed were among the dead or injured is unknown at this time.

The attacker, 29-year-old Omar Mateen, was reportedly known to the FBI after becoming a person of interest in both 2013 and 2014.

“The Federal Bureau of Investigation at one point opened an investigation into Mateen, but subsequently closed the case when it produced nothing that appeared to warrant further investigation,” the Daily Beast writes.

Mateen reportedly called 911 to announce his allegiance to the Islamic State prior to shooting more than 100 people at a gay nightclub known as “Pulse.”

Aamaq Agency, an Islamic State news organization, was quick to claim responsibility for the shooting – calling Mateen an “Islamic State fighter.”

At current, no evidence links the kill list, which contains more than 8,000 entries, to Mateen’s attack.

Mateen’s father, Seddique Mir Mateen, told NBC News that the attack could be related to an incident in which his son became “angry when he saw two men kissing in Miami a couple of months ago.”

A coworker of Mateen’s also described him as a homophobic, unhinged and unstable individual who even talked of killing others.

“I quit because everything he said was toxic,” Daniel Gilroy told Florida Today, “and the company wouldn’t do anything. This guy was unhinged and unstable. He talked of killing people.”

Given the list also includes data from other Florida residents and states such as California, Washington, Texas, Illinois and New York, the mention of Orlando could be mere coincidence.

As noted by Vocativ, who first broke news of the list on Wednesday, identities are also linked to other countries including Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, New Zealand, South Korea, Sweden, Trinidad and Tobago and the U.K.

According to CBS 12, former FBI agent Stuart Kaplan called the list especially alarming due to its focus on civilian targets.

“It’s going to create some hysteria,” he said.

Although many are attempting to point to the list as proof of pre-planning for the Florida attack, others are much more skeptical.

WauchulaGhost, a hacker who has surveilled and hijacked hundreds of ISIS social media accounts, concurred with Infowars analysis regarding the list’s issues.

“The latest kill list of 8,000 people seems to be a little far fetched,” WauchulaGhost told Infowars. “It’s not only widespread but has many duplications. The list is actually about 3,900 people, most with obsolete addresses.”

“The list is old data and really has no value.”

The Wall Street Journal also notes that counterterrorism officials are “at odds over whether lists pose actual threat or are merely scare tactics.”

Regardless of whether Mateen was ordered by ISIS to carry out the attack, this latest event – which follows both San Bernardino and Garland – will do little to quell many Americans’ fear of the Islamic State.
