A University of Cambridge engineering professor warns that the globalist effort to cut carbon emissions will result in widespread poverty, starvation, and civil strife.
“Over the last 200 years, fossil fuels have provided the route out of grinding poverty for many people in the world,” writes M.J. Kelly. “A rapid decarbonization is simply impossible over the next 20 years unless the trend of a growing number who succeed to improve their lot is stalled by rich and middle-class people downgrading their own standard of living.”
Rapid decarbonization, as proposed by the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP21) in Paris, will result in “large parts of the population [dying] from starvation, destitution or violence in the absence of enough low-carbon energy to sustain society.”
Kelly writes that renewable energy efforts will fall far short of meeting the energy needs of humanity.
Increased CO2 Beneficial
Moreover, according to the engineer, CO2 is beneficial, not detrimental as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) contends. “Everyone assumes that every change is for the worse, but we are starting to find upsides” in carbon dioxide, he said. “The recent science is casting doubt on whether more CO2 is necessarily a bad thing.”
According to Indur Goklany, a U.S. Department of the Interior official and a former delegate to the IPCC, CO2 is a major factor in plant fertilization and expanding crop yields, in addition to other benefits.
Goklany cites empirical data confirming that the biosphere’s productivity has increased by about 14% since 1982, in large part as a result of rising carbon dioxide levels. He also notes satellite evidence confirming increased carbon dioxide concentrations have also resulted in greater productivity of wild terrestrial ecosystems in all vegetation types.
“It is very likely that the impact of rising carbon dioxide concentrations is currently net beneficial for both humanity and the biosphere generally,” Goklany writes. “These benefits are real, whereas the costs of warming are uncertain. Halting the increase in carbon dioxide concentrations abruptly would deprive people and the planet of the benefits of carbon dioxide much sooner than they would reduce any costs of warming.”
Turning Skeptics Into Criminals
The US government is moving rapidly to criminalize such scientific findings and stifle counter arguments to the globalist carbon reduction agenda.
In March, the Justice Department announced it plans to level criminal charges against people and industries that are skeptical of the decarbonization agenda.
“This matter has been discussed,” Attorney General Loretta Lynch told the Senate Judiciary Committee. “We have received information about it and have referred it to the FBI to consider whether or not it meets the criteria for which we could take action on.”
The DOJ said it may consider RICO racketeering charges against skeptics.
“Under President Clinton, the Department of Justice brought and won a civil RICO action against the tobacco industry for its fraud,” said Democrat Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island. “Under President [Barack] Obama, the Department of Justice has done nothing so far about the climate-denial scheme.”
