Donald Trump said Friday that his brief Twitter account suspension is proof of the power of his words.

The US president’s Twitter feed mysteriously went offline for 11 minutes on Thursday, triggering feverish speculation that his account had been suspended.

Twitter launched an internal review after an employee deactivated Mr Trump’s account on his last day at the company.

Instead of seeing the usual rants and declarations, users were confronted by a different message: “Sorry, that page doesn’t exist!”.

The social media company said the account “was inadvertently deactivated due to human error by a Twitter employee”.
