GOP Congressman Peter King, who openly expressed support for Irish terrorists in the 1980s, yet again demonstrated how much of a hypocrite he is Thursday by lambasting NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden as a “terrorist appeaser”.

Appearing on Fox News, King repeated previous assertions, stating “Edward Snowden is either a traitor, or a defector, or both.” Hitting out at an editorial written in support of granting Snowden clemency, King also stated “The New York Times is an accomplice.”

“They’re a disgrace. Their editors are a disgrace, and I wish they cared more about America than they did about the rights of terrorists’ appeasers.” King, the chair of the House Homeland Security subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence, said.

King yet again floated the unproven notion that Snowden deliberately infiltrated the NSA to expose its secrets , rather than being an employee who discovered unconstitutional practices he believed to be detrimental to the American people.

In the face of recent federal judges’ rulings, the The New York Congressman also continued to push the idea that the mass spying programs are all legal and fully authorized.

“No one has found any violations [by the NSA} … no phone calls are being listened to, no emails are being read,” he said.

King has previously called for the extradition and prosecution of Snowden, as well as journalists reporting on the issue, including Glenn Greenwald, the reporter who broke the NSA spying story in the London Guardian.

In an interview conducted last April, King admitted that he had supported the IRA, despite bombings that had killed British soldiers and scores of innocent people, as well as targeting British politicians, including the Prime Minister.

“I once said, ‘If civilians are killed in an attack on a military installation, it is certainly regrettable, but I will not morally blame the IRA for it.’” King noted.

Greenwald has previously labelled King a “supporter of terrorism”

“The last thing I would try to do is read what goes on internally in the swamp of Peter King’s brain,” Greenwald has asserted. “What I do know is that he has a history of all kinds of radical and extremist statements. He himself was a supporter of terrorism for several decades when it was done by the IRA.”

Appearing on CNN yesterday, Greenwald, who has hinted that other NSA Whistleblowers are  now leaking secrets under Snowden’s cover, expressed his belief that should Snowden be allowed to return to the United States, the Obama administration would consequently make him “disappear in prison” and “not allow him to speak”.
