According to CNN Qatar is a “hub for terrorist fundraising.” This assertion ignores the partnership between Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United States in supporting al-Qaeda and other jihadist groups, including the excessively brutal ISIS and al-Nusra in Syria.

No such report on how the CIA not only funded the Mujahideen in Afghanistan – a paramilitary organization that would ultimately become al-Qaeda and the Taliban – would be allowed to air on CNN, which served as a branch office for the Army’s psychological operations.

CIA Funded Osama bin Laden

The CIA directly funded Osama bin Laden and his Maktab al-Khidamat (MAK), also known as Al-Kifah, from 1984 until the late 1990s. MAK would later be characterized by the U.S. government as the “precursor organization to al-Qaeda.”

“CIA money was actually funneled to MAK, since it was recruiting young men to come join the jihad in Afghanistan,” writes Joseph J. Trento, author of Prelude to Terror: the Rogue CIA, The Legacy of America’s Private Intelligence Network the Compromising of American Intelligence. Trento said his information came from “a former CIA officer who actually filed these reports.”

CIA officials went so far as to admit the agency met with Osama bin Laden. “American emissaries are understood to have traveled to Pakistan for meetings with mujaheddin leaders… [A former CIA official] even suggests the US emissaries met directly with bin Laden, and that it was bin Laden, acting on advice from his friends in Saudi intelligence, who first suggested the mujaheddin should be given Stingers,” writes Simon Reeves, author of The New Jackals: Ramzi Yousef, Osama bin Laden, and the Future of Terrorism. The State Department would on cue deny this claim.

The CIA effort to recruit and field precursors to ISIS and al-Nusra, to name but two, was initiated Bin Laden’s mentor Abdullah Azzam. “Azzam trotted the globe during the 1980s to promote the Afghan jihad against the Soviets. By the time of his death in 1989, he had recruited between 16,000 and 20,000 mujaheddin from 20 countries to Afghanistan, visited 50 American cities to advance his cause, and dispatched acolytes to spread the gospel in 26 US states, not to mention across the Middle East and Europe,” Chris Suellentrop wrote for Slate in 2002. During his sojourn to numerous American cities, Azzam and his cohorts convinced countless Muslim-Americans to donate millions of dollars to the cause of defeating the Soviets in Afghanistan.

While CNN attempts to outrage with news of Qatar’s fundraising activities, it is silent on similar efforts in the 1980s. Between 1980 and 1989, more than $600 million passed through Osama bin Laden’s charity fronts. “It was largely Arab money that saved the system” because a large precentage of the money given by the CIA and Saudi Arabia was frittered away and squandered through corruption before it reached Afghanistan, according Mohammad Yousaf, a high ranking ISI official. The ISI, or Pakistani intelligence, collaborated with the CIA on coordinating the Mujahideen.

Charity Funding is CIA Signature

The CIA, not unlike Qatar, used charities to flood its Muslim army with funds. For instance, it used the Pakistani branch of Mercy International, based in the United States and Switzerland, to funnel money into Afghanistan and Bosnia. The Pakistani branch of the charity was headed up by Zahid Shaikh Mohammed, the brother of alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, popularly known as KSM. It would later be claimed Mercy International was a front for the Muslim Brotherhood, an organization nurtured by British intelligence and the CIA, according to author Richard Labeviere in his book, Dollars for Terror: The United States and Islam. The CIA’s effort in Bosnia was aided by the Third World Relief Agency, a charity converted by Bosnian President Izetbegovic and a Sudanese man named Elfatih Hassanein into “the chief broker of black-market weapons deals by Bosnia’s Muslim-led government and the agent of money and influence in Bosnia for Islamic movements and governments around the world,” according to The Washington Post.

The Islamic Benevolence Committee, the Benevolence International Corporation, founded by Osama bin Laden’s brother-in-law Mohammed Jamal Khalifa, and other charities are instrumental in the effort to fund the CIA’s covert war in Afghanistan. This charity template would later be used by the likes of the Muslim World League, Benevolence International Foundation, and the Qatar Charitable Society.

Shell Game in War On Manufactured Terror

Now that Qatar and Saudi Arabia are designated to take the blame for al-Qaeda and al-Qaeda affiliated terrorism, the role of the CIA and the United States is dutifully scrubbed from the narrative. CNN – as a primary propaganda conduit in the war on manufactured terror – has its work cut out for it.

The spin required is offered by none other than Juan Zarate, who runs the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a think tank rife over the years with a rotating roster of insiders, including Zbigniew Brzezinski, Henry Kissinger, the neocon Michael Ledeen, Admiral Thomas Moorer, and others. It is funded in part by the billionaire heir to the Mellon family, Richard Scaife, who has murky connections to the CIA. Zarate’s organization also has connections to the Ford Foundation, which may as well be a branch office of the CIA.

No matter where you look far and wide across the every expanding war on terror landscape you see landmarks left in place by the CIA and its partners. It is the job of CNN and the alphabet propaganda media to guide the average American away from the truth and build consensus for the next battle in a never ending war design to be unwinnable.
