CNN Says Obama Poll Numbers Dropping Because He’s Not ‘Letting Us In On’ The Secret

Trying to appear supportive and give the President at least one straw to grasp, CNN suggested that Obama’s drastic drop in the polls could be easily resolved if he’d only let us in on some of the secrets the NSA learned while they were listening in on all of our communications. Any little secret will do, so long as it doesn’t jeopardize national security.

According to a CNN/ORC International survey released on Monday, Obama’s approval rating dropped 8 percentage points over the past month to 45 percent, his lowest rating in more than 18 months.

And Obama’s disapproval rating soared 9 points with only 54 percent currently saying they approve of the way the President is doing his job.

The poll results in the 18-29 age bracket were the most surprising. In May, two-thirds gave Obama a positive rating, but June’s results showed a 17-point drop to just 48 percent.

CNN feels that Obama might be losing the “benefit-of-the-doubt” factor he’s always enjoyed. In May, 49 percent of Americans considered him “honest and trustworthy,” and that dropped, in June, to only 45 percent.

Gloria Borger, CNN Chief Political Analyst, thinks Obama could bring those poll numbers back up if he’d only make one of his famous speeches and “Declassify some information about thwarted terror attacks that can be shared without compromising intelligence.”

In other words, Mr. President, tell us something that will allow us to believe you’re spying on us for our own good, it doesn’t even have to be true.

Better yet, Borger suggests, Obama might really be able to drive those numbers if he’d open up and share his feelings with us. “Let Americans in on the real secret they’re puzzling: how this president has been affected by what he has seen from the Oval Office. Some may buy it; some may not. But letting us in on this secret is just part of the job.”

According to Borger, the American people can be easily shined on, but with an “honest and trustworthy” rating of only 45 percent it’s going to take a lot more than an artificial tea and a fairytale that ends with King Obama slaying the dragons just before they breach the castle walls.

We’re going to need cold, hard evidence that Obama and members of his administration are actually doing their jobs, defending the Constitution and looking out for the best interests of American citizens. Right now, there’s just not much of that out there, which is the real reason Obama is standing down from the podium.

In one of his last addresses Obama said, “You can’t have 100-percent security and also have 100-percent privacy and zero inconvenience. We’re going to have to make some choices as a society.” Maybe he’s avoiding the speech-making for now because after seeing these poll results he realizes Americans are finally ready to make those choices, and when they do, he won’t come out on top.
