Diplomatic hosting at the White House has degraded into all out grovelling, so much so that a Chinese flag was flown in Washington to hail a visit from Chinese President Hu Jintao. Obama bowed again, while China boasted this week that it has become the world’s new number 1 country. After all, China has become so dominant a figure in the U.S. economy and trade deficit, that there is little reason to appear to cater towards the American people anymore.
