CBP to purchase 209 Colt M4 A1 and 160 Colt M4 LE rifles

CBP is planning to purchase 209 Colt M4 A1and 160 Colt M4 LE rifles from Colt Defense, LLC, of Hartford, CT, which it says is the only “responsible source” that can supply these specific weapons.

“The Colt M4 is currently the primary long arm (duty rifle) for CBP, as such all long arm training, tactics ammunition and accessories in the CBP inventory are based upon the Colt M4,” says a “justification and approval” document issued by the agency on September 11.

The rifles will be used for both training and duty use, says the notice.
