When our forefathers got together to decide how the new nation they’d just freed from an English monarchy was going to be governed, the main thing on their minds was not allowing too much federal power to be put the hands of one person or group of persons.
They ordained three branches, the executive, the legislative and the judicial in hopes that each could ride herd on the other to prevent one branch from becoming so powerful as to subvert the will of the people.
I do not believe they designed the system for career politicians but for citizens, fresh off the streets, who are in touch with the present day needs of the nation and not a gaggle of out of touch, jaded old party hacks who only reach out to their constituency when it’s time to run again.
They set term limits for the president but not for the Congress and Senate and if they could have foreseen what is going on now they probably would have set term limits for them also.
Questionable backdoor alliances and downright graft and corruption are common place on Capitol Hill and they set themselves above the people who pay their salaries, having their own retirement and healthcare programs, untainted by free market forces and Obamacare, which they forced down the collective throats of America, many of them selling out what little integrity they had left for some future reward the Obama Administration promised.
In many cases you can’t even find out why they voted they way they did.
Bart Gordon, former congressman from Tennessee, voted for Obamacare – knowing he was going against the will of the people who elected him – and promptly disappeared, it seems almost as if nobody has seen him since then.
Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander voted for the Food Protection Act and Senator Bob Corker voted against it.
Who was right and who was wrong, why, and don’t they owe the people of Tennessee an explanation?
Who holds these elected officials accountable?
If somebody don’t stand up to the Obama Administration pretty soon, the legislative branch and the judicial branch will be nothing more than figure heads as Obama practically ignores the legislative process and operates by executive fiat.
The IRS and the Justice Department basically thumb their noses at the congressional committees who are charged with investigating their excesses.
We are fast approaching a truly imperial presidency; all it will take is one more Supreme Court appointment, the maintained status quo in the Senate and the loss of a few house seats to the Democrats.
Chief Justice Roberts saddled America with Obamacare in an academic exercise over semantics.
Who holds the Supreme Court accountable?
Our foreign policy is in tatters and our president is perceived as weak by other world leaders, Putin has made Obama the butt of an international joke in the Snowden affair, dangling bait and pulling it back and laughing at our impotence as Obama keeps moving his red lines and hides from the fallout from all the “phony” scandals.
Who holds the executive branch accountable?
The nation needs an enema and the nozzle needs to be inserted in the District of Columbia.
Pray for our troops and the peace of Jerusalem.
God Bless America
