U.S. stocks traded mixed Monday as the Dow Jones Industrial Average recently lost 18 points to 15407, the S&P 500 index fell three points to 1689, and the Nasdaq Composite rose eight points to 3668. Among the companies whose shares are trading actively are BlackBerry Ltd. (BBRY), Vical Inc. (VICL) and Steinway Musical Instruments (LVB).

BlackBerry ($10.46, +$0.70, +7.18%)(BB.T) said Monday it has formed a board committee to consider options including a sale of the company, as the smartphone pioneer struggles to turn around its sliding market share despite recently launching long-delayed new devices.

Vical ($1.57, -$2.02, -56.28%) has been trying for more than decade to show its investigational treatment Allovectin could be a cancer fighter. The company’s chief executive said Vical will instead focus on its infectious-disease vaccine program.
