Oculus president Michael Abrash is preparing for a world where augmented reality (AR) dominates the daily lives of everyone.

Abrash admitted virtual reality is not the future, noting that the public believes it is more burdensome and not as sleek as the aesthetically engaging AR alternative.

“No matter how good VR gets, few people would be comfortable socializing in person with someone whose eyes they can’t see, and social acceptability is an absolute requirement for anything we wear in public,” he said.

The uncomfortable and ugly VR headsets are a hard sell as well.

The allure of augmented reality is the user can have an immersive experience while never coming across the disorienting aspects of VR.

The potential popularity of AR is most apparent in 2016’s smash hit Pokemon GO, the origins of which have ties to CIA funding.

The app game utilizes the player’s camera to provide live footage of their surroundings that even orbiting satellites and Google cars can’t reach.

It is important to note that Facebook, the same company that admits usage is adverse to your mental health, is Oculus’s parent company.

Facebook’s chief aim is reportedly to “…consume as much of your time and conscious attention as possible” as well as having everyone wear stylish AR glasses that provide a digital filter on everything you see.

A former Vice president of Facebook, Chamath Palihapitiya, reveals the insidious machinations of his former employer: “You don’t realize it, but you are being programmed.”
