Ron Paul performs yet another amazing interview Thursday night on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Paul doesn’t disappoint when he manages to defends freedom, reject authoritarianism and promote a voluntaristic society all in the two minute segment.

Jay Leno insinuates that more gun control is the answer to ‘gun violence in American that gets crazier and crazier’ (however, we all know the statistics show gun violence has dropped dramatically). The talk show host of course references the Navy Yard shooting saying you have a guy who is mentally ill and calling out for help, and yet still maintains a secret clearance.

Leno’s attempt to promote stricter gun control measures fails miserably and actually ends up proving Paul’s stance on the issue.

Paul immediately points out that “that shows you the government’s not very good at it, it happened on government property.”

“Most people in Texas homes wouldn’t be invaded like that, because they know what would happen,” says Paul.

Jay Leno questions Paul whether he at least supports stricter background checks, particularly on those who may be mentally ill. Paul says he doesn’t support it if it means the government gets to use the NSA to spy on you and know every single thing about everybody  “from the cradle to the grave.”

“If I thought it would be the solution, then maybe we could do it. But it wouldn’t solve the problem,” says Paul.
