APD officer not indicted for May shooting incident

An Austin police officer accused of shooting his weapon during a traffic stop will not be indicted by a grand jury.

On May 8, 2013, Officer Justin Boehm pulled over deliveryman James Barton going east on Airport Boulevard at 12th Street after he drove through a red light.

The officer told investigators he feared for his life when Barton got out of his truck and walked toward his patrol car. While the officer told him to get back in his vehicle, Barton pulled out something black from his pocket.
