A west Michigan congressman has signed on to a request asking a secret court to publicly release its decisions authorizing the collection of records relating to individuals under its jurisdiction.
U.S. Rep. Justin Amash, R-Cascade Township, has continued to hammer away at what he considers an overreach by the intelligence community in the wake of reports that phone and Internet records were widely collected.
On Tuesday, his office said Amash and 15 other members of Congress filed a brief with the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court asking that its interpretation of relevant sections of the Patriot Act be released for review.
