Although Michelle Obama says she will not push for a federal ban on large sugary fructose corn syrup soft drinks, she applauds Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s decision to outlaw the beverages and bring the heavy boot of the law down on any business that sells them to New York’s subject-citizens.

“We applaud anyone who’s stepping up to think about what changes work in their communities. New York is one example,” she told the Associated Press.

In other words, Ms. Obama applauds coercive government and its high-handed decisions and mandates that treat the public like children and imbeciles.

She later tried to moderate this approach.

“I was trying to make the point that every community is different and every solution is different and that I applaud local leaders including mayors, business leaders, parents, etc., who are taking this issue seriously and working towards solving this problem.”

Bloomberg, however, is not involving parents and business leaders. He is acting like a nanny to parents and a tyrant to business leaders.

Ms. Obama supports this and she believes government knows what’s best for subject-taxpayers and their children. The tricky part is not to come off sounding like a heavy-handed and arrogant statist in the media.
