A trio of con artists made £1.2million by bringing fake mothers into Britain to falsely claim benefits.

Slovakians Darina Balogova, 31, her husband Marek Balog, 34, and brother Jaroslav Bado, 32, were jailed on Friday for tax credit fraud and money laundering at Maidstone Crown Court.

They had been persuading women from their home country to live in the UK and fraudulently claim child and working tax benefits in one of the largest welfare scams of its kind.

The family splashed the cash living a life of luxury, gambling in fancy casinos and going on spending sprees to buy gold and diamonds.
