President Obama hailed the announcement today by the Libyan government that longtime dictator Moammar Gadhafi was killed, calling it a historical victory for the Libyan people.
“Today we can definitively say the Gadhafi regime has come to an end,” the president said this afternoon.
“This is a momentous day in the history of Libya,” he added. “The dark shadow of tyranny has been lifted.”
