Ryan Cleary’s arrest on suspicion of being involved in a global computer hacking plot is “very significant”, says Britain’s top policeman.

The 19-year-old was held as part of a Scotland Yard and FBI probe into LulzSec, a group which has claimed responsibility for hacking attempts on the UK’s Serious Organised Crime Agency, the US Senate and the CIA.

The student, described as highly intelligent but introverted, was held yesterday at his family home in Wickford, Essex, and is still being held for questioning at a central London station.
