Several lawmakers have slammed Hillary Clinton for all but endorsing the threats and violence being waged against Republicans by far-left groups.
Democrat Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.) was the latest lawmaker to criticize Hillary Clinton’s remarks justifying incivility against Republicans in a recent CNN interview.
“That’s ridiculous,” Heitkamp told CNN Tuesday. “I can’t imagine how you get anything done if you don’t bring civility back into politics, and that goes for both sides.”
House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), who was shot and nearly killed after a Bernie Sanders supporter opened fire on him and other Republicans last year, responded to Clinton’s remarks on Twitter.
“Seriously, Hillary?” he wrote.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) torched Clinton’s comments during a speech on the Senate floor Tuesday.
“She told CNN exactly how she views millions of Americans who hold different political views than her own,” McConnell said.
“No peace until they get their way? More of these unhinged tactics? Apparently, this is the left’s rallying cry.”
Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Ore.) was even more brutal in his response to Clinton.
“What is the ‘what you stand for’ here?” he asked. “The idea pushed by a Senate Democrat that presumption of innocence is dependent on political views?”
“That processes (and an accusers wish for privacy) should be cast aside for politics? The right to smear?”

Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) called Clinton’s statement “irresponsible,” and said “every Democrat should denounce” it.
“At a time when Republicans are being shot, stabbed, doxxed, beaten, mailed powder, run out of restaurants, and sent death threats, Hillary Clinton urges Democrats to be even more uncivil. What an irresponsible statement. Every Democrat should denounce,” he tweeted.

Rep. Mike Bost (R-Ill.) echoed Cassidy, urging Democrats to denounce her endorsement of incivility.

Former Congressman Allen West (R-Fla.) said of Clinton’s remarks, “that dog don’t hunt.”
You, Mrs. Clinton, may believe that you've unleashed the Kracken, but we'll be brave, like Perseus & will defeat the monster you've called from the depths. Your definition of civility is far from it. You seek domination, tyranny & that dog don't hunt #tcot https://t.co/aMSctdcbjK

Other high-level figures in politics and entertainment also piled on against Clinton’s refusal to condemn violence against Republicans.
WOW: Hillary Clinton has said there will be no civility in American politics until Democrats are in control. She is threatening continued obstruction, destruction and incivility unless you do what she wants. Democrat agenda is impeachment; Republican making America even greater.

Her insults (“deplorable, irredeemable”) have become incitements (“you cannot be civil with [Republicans]”).

America's biggest sore loser Hillary Clinton is now throwing herself back into the political fray and once again demonizing conservatives https://t.co/aadEAas7U6

The latest from Hillary Clinton is that America can’t have civility in politics until the Democratic Party takes back power in Congress. Another interesting statement from a woman who has never understood her own country.
— Bill O'Reilly (@BillOReilly) October 10, 2018
The fact that no Democrats in Congress – save for Heitkamp – have denounced Clinton’s remarks underscores their lack of real leadership within the party.
It could also signal Democrats don’t want to get run over if she becomes their party’s presidential candidate in 2020.
