California Democrat Maxine Waters roundly rejected her party leadership’s advice on cooling it with calls for impeaching President Trump.
“As you know, there’s a difference in how some of our leadership talk about how we should handle all of this,” Waters told the crowd during the Stonewall Young Democrats event on Saturday in Los Angeles. “They say, ‘Maxine, please don’t say impeachment anymore.'”
“And when they say that, I say impeachment, impeachment, impeachment, impeachment, impeachment, impeachment, impeachment, impeachment,” she said to applause.
“I’m gonna get him. I’m gonna get him,” she added. “I’m in this fight and I’m not gonna move.”
Waters went on to assure the crowd that once Trump is impeached, it won’t be long until Democrats move in on Vice President Mike Pence next.
“I had a conversation here today with someone asked, ‘Well, what about Pence? If you are able to impeach, Pence will be worse,'” she recollected.
“Well, I said, ‘Look, one at a time.'”
She also claimed that Trump lied about her calling for threats against his supporters, even though, she said, “I do that all the time, but not that time.”
Waters has led the charge of impeachment calls against Trump since day one of his presidency, and spearheaded along with Rep. Al Green (D-TX) articles of impeachment last year, which was soundly defeated in the House.
