President Trump “will be impeached” despite assurances from Democrat leadership they won’t seek impeachment, according to Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.).

“I believe, of course, that this president can be impeached, will be impeached, and certainly has committed the high crimes and misdemeanors that is [sic] identified by the Constitution as such that would qualify him for impeachment,” Waters said Sunday on MSNBC .

Although the outspoken Congresswoman admitted Democrat leadership like House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) warned colleagues in their party not to mention impeachment while campaigning, Waters feels it should be a central issue for her party going into the midterms.

“I’ve been talking about impeachment for a long time,” Waters said. “My party has not made this their central issue. They have insisted they need to talk about the issues that they believe are central to the concern of the American people … I’ve been saying we can walk and chew gum at the same time.”

“There is no reason why we shouldn’t talk about those issues, but allow the American people to understand that we know something is going on,” she added.

Other prominent Democrats, like Sens. Diane Feinstein (Calif.), Ron Wyden (OR), Bob Menendez (NJ), Steny Hoyer (Md.), Patrick Leahy (VT), Eric Swalwell (Calif.), and Jack Reed (RI) have all stated they would prefer FBI Special Counsel Robert Mueller finish the “Russia collusion” probe before making decisions on impeachment.

But Waters doesn’t let pesky little things like facts get in the way of her political grandstanding.

However, despite Waters’ baseless reasoning for impeaching Trump and the political risks attached to her rhetoric, she’s the only Democrat who’s being honest about the her party’s intentions.

The fact is, Democrats pretend they’re not interested in impeachment for political expediency, but they’re preparing for it behind the scenes.

“Despite the gallons of media ink and hours of airtime spent pushing the ‘Dems Don’t Do Impeachment’ narrative, this is less a political strategy and more of a forlorn hope,” CBS reported Monday.

“Pelosi and Schumer can try to tamp down the #ImpeachNow rhetoric, but actual Democratic voters are talking about little else.”
