A CNN commentator agreed with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s statement Wednesday that America has never been great, despite the governor’s office walking the statement back.

As Trump campaign adviser Gina Loudon pushed back on identity politics and broke down the media’s constant negative coverage of the President, CNN’s Angela Rye dismissed everything she said and reverted to Gov. Cuomo’s statement that “America was never great.”

On Wednesday, Cuomo attempted to riff on President Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan, saying instead that it wasn’t that great to begin with.

“We’re not going to make America great again. It was never that great,” the governor said during a presser.

Moments later, his press secretary issued a statement retracting the governor’s remarks.
