The Sacramento Bee’s editorial board issued a scathing takedown of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi Wednesday, imploring the 78-year-old congresswoman not to seek office in November.
In a piece entitled, “Dear Nancy Pelosi: It’s not about you, it’s about your party and country. Forget being speaker,” the newspaper’s editorial staff made a case for Pelosi to step down after numerous faux pas.
“The Republican Party is now clearly the party of Donald Trump,” the staff’s message began.
“The Democratic Party cannot be seen as the party of Nancy Pelosi and win in November.”
The Bee points out Pelosi is a favorite target of President Donald Trump, who just last week issued a tweet encouraging the party to keep her as their leader.
Democrats, please do not distance yourselves from Nancy Pelosi. She is a wonderful person whose ideas & policies may be bad, but who should definitely be given a 4th chance. She is trying very hard & has every right to take down the Democrat Party if she has veered too far left!

“Democrats, please do not distance yourselves from Nancy Pelosi…She is trying very hard & has every right to take down the Democrat Party if she has veered too far left!” Trump tweeted on Aug. 10.
The Bee also highlighted presidential loser Hillary Clinton had tried Pelosi’s tactic of touting her accomplishments when she took on Trump — “and we know how that turned out.”
“[T]he political reality,” The Bee wrote, “is that she is not the most effective messenger.”
The staff also added that “Democrats in Congress could certainly use some fresh faces in leadership.”
Concluding Dems would be better off without her, the staff wrote: “if she truly believes what she says about how important it is for Democrats to retake the House so they can stop Trump, she must accept that it can’t be with her as speaker.”
