The argument over how well-secured America’s border with Mexico is has been settled. The answer is deeply disturbing.
According to a General Accountability Office report released last week, only 44 percent of the border is under “operational control.” And of that, only 15 percent is secure. Here are the numbers, as reported by U.S. News & World Report:
“Of the nearly 2,000 miles separating the U.S. and Mexico, 873 are under the ‘operational control’ of the Border Patrol. Of those 873, 129 miles were under full control, with the rest classified as ‘managed.'”
